Year 4
Welcome to Year 3!
We have an exciting term ahead of us. We are all really looking forward to the interesting and engaging work that we will be producing together.
Throughout the school our main topic is “One Planet Many Worlds” and the focus for Year three will be on Europe. We will be finding out about key human and physical features of European countries and comparing it to the UK. If you have any books or information about any countries in Europe we would be pleased to borrow them.
Later in the term our topic changes to Ancient Greeks and this will include a fun Ancient Greek day where the children will be invited to dress as a Greek for the day!
Much of our English work will be linked to our theme but will include writing stories, information leaflets and other non fiction writing about Europe.
In Science we will be learning about Animals including humans then light and shadows.
Homework
There will be a spelling test on Friday and the children will be given their new spellings on the Monday before. Please make sure your child practises their spellings every day.
Children will be bringing reading books home and it is still really important that the children are reading every day. Children's reading diaries will be checked on a Friday and we expect to see 5 entries for the week listing books and pages read. The children all have a log on to Times Table Rockstars and they should be completing 30 mins each week
PE
Our PE day is Wednesday. On these days, we are asking the children to come into school in their full PE kit, including trainers. Please can the children make sure they have suitable outdoor clothing (trainers, jacket, jogging bottoms / trousers).
Water bottles
Please can all children make sure they have a labelled water bottle with them each day; they are welcome to fill their bottle up throughout the day at school.
